Title: Technical Support Engineer

Area: Pleasanton, CA

Job Summary:

The Bivio technical support team is a highly skilled team with very strong networking and security backgrounds. The ideal candidate should have a strong IP network appliance/equipment technical support experience. Experience in the networking security space is a plus.

The position requires potentially complex technical support to Bivio customers and partners primarily via the telephone and email, and occasionally onsite. The Technical Support team advises customers on Bivio’s product deployment, applications, compatibility, and problem troubleshooting. They represent a key conduit for customer feedback and issues back to Engineering & Product Marketing teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Handles customer inquiries providing information on product application, product compatibility, etc.
  • Troubleshoots a wide variety of product problems to minimize product returns.
  • Determines, negotiates, and arranges for the return of products, both in and out of warranty, for repair and/or value added modification.
  • Coordinates with other departments on technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Informs and coordinates with Quality Assurance & Engineering teams on significant problems of a technical and/or design nature that become apparent in dealing with resellers and customers.
  • Informs Product Marketing & Engineering on customer product feature requests and issues.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Strong IP networking knowledge a MUST.
  • Experience with Linux and/or other UNIX operating system a MUST.
  • Knowledge of network security technologies.
  • Linux application-level troubleshooting.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting networking issues and components.
  • Ability to interact with top tier IT professionals and guide troubleshooting of potentially complex networking problems.
  • Individual MUST have outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Occasional off-hours assistance may be required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Individual MUST take ownership of technical support issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Three years technical support experience in networking field providing support for networking equipment products.

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree preferred
