BIVIO NETWORKS ANNOUNCES NEXT GENERATION OF PROGRAMMABLE DEEP PACKET INSPECTION NETWORK APPLIANCE PLATFORMS

Industry’s Most Powerful Packet Processing Solution Is First True Programmable 10 Gbps DPI Platform; Shatters Sub-$10,000 Industry Price/Performance Barrier

PLEASANTON, Calif., January 29, 2007 – Bivio Networks, the leader in high-performance network appliance platforms for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) applications, today announced it is expanding its family of products with the introduction of the Bivio 7000 Series™ and Bivio 6500 Series™ network appliance platforms. Building upon the rapid market success of its award-winning Bivio 2000™, the new Bivio 7000 Series and Bivio 6500 Series network appliance platforms set the new benchmark for deep packet processing applications by delivering the industry’s first true 10 gigabit per second deep packet inspection capabilities starting at price points below $10,000. Bivio’s new platforms enable both standard-Linux and custom application development and integration within the widely adopted BiviOS™ networking and management execution environment. Bivio will showcase the new products at booth #2625 at the RSA Conference and Expo in San Francisco, February 5-9, 2007.

“With the addition of the Bivio 7000 and Bivio 6500 products, we offer our customers a complete family of the most powerful programmable DPI network appliance platforms that enable them to rapidly develop and deploy their market-leading applications,” said Elan Amir, president and CEO of Bivio Networks. “Bivio’s innovative architecture and product acceptance by OEM customers and by the security industry have confirmed our position as a leader and a driver of both deep packet inspection technology and of the market.”

“The continual increase in network speeds and attack sophistication represents a major challenge to the future of network security,” said Wayne Jackson, CEO of Sourcefire. “Sourcefire was the first vendor to recognize the importance of using Bivio’s specialized, non-proprietary hardware to help secure current and next-generation networks. These new products promise to continue adding value to Sourcefire’s innovative security solutions – even as our customers’ networks evolve.”

Bivio 7000 Series
The Bivio 7000 Series of programmable network appliances delivers true 10 Gbps throughput performance within a standard-Linux programming and execution environment. The Bivio 7000 Series is targeted to customers that have developed Linux-based networking applications with demanding packet processing requirements. Utilizing state-of-the-art parallel application execution engines, the Bivio 7000 provides massive packet processing capabilities in a remarkably compact 2U chassis form factor. Representing the industry’s most powerful packet processing platform, the Bivio 7000 is the first true 10 Gbps deep packet processing solution.

The Bivio 7000 Series features Bivio’s comprehensive BiviOS™ operating system that provides a standard Linux-based execution environment featuring load balancing, clustering support, high availability and redundancy, and unique scaling and expansion capabilities. BiviOS enables customers to focus on application development, greatly reducing costs and time to market deployment targets.

The Bivio 7000 Series is backward compatible with the Bivio 2000 allowing current Bivio 2000 customers to quickly and easily transition their applications to this new platform.

Bivio 6500 Series
The Bivio 6500 Series of network appliance platforms are designed specifically for custom application development within a non-Linux operating environment. The Bivio 6500 achieves unmatched price/performance by combining Bivio’s powerful appliance management system with the industry’s most advanced network processor architecture. The result is a highly integrated platform for wire-speed execution of custom applications up to 10 Gbps.

As with all Bivio products, the Bivio 6500 features the BiviOS operating system that provides powerful management capabilities enabling customers to develop and deploy products at a fraction of the cost and time.

“Arbor Network’s service provider customers require best in class security solutions today with ever-increasing performance requirements tomorrow,” said Paul Morville, vice president of product management at Arbor Networks. “Bivio’s new 10 Gbps programmable platforms give us the performance advantage we need to provide carrier-class threat management devices for multi-service converged networks.”

Building on the market success of its flagship Bivio 2000 product, Bivio is targeting its Bivio 6500 and 7000 Series products to a wide range of customer segments with deep packet processing requirements. These include security application vendors, network equipment manufacturers, federal government agencies needing to deploy high-performance platforms that can support security applications such as network monitoring, analysis, surveillance, content filtering, and leak prevention as well as service providers offering policy-centric managed security, storage, voice, and mobility services to large financial and enterprise customers.
